Warrantti ry's tradition regulations

Warrantti’s Tradition Committee

1§ The association operates a Tradition Committee under its authority. The purpose and task of the Tradition Committee is to preserve the traditions of business students in Vaasa and ensure the continuity of the association’s activities.

2§ The tasks of the Tradition Committee are carried out jointly by the current Chair of the Board, the current Board member responsible for the annual ball, and former Board members who are still students. In addition, 1–5 other members who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the association’s activities may be invited to perform the tasks of the Tradition Committee. The current Tradition Committee is responsible for inviting these members.

3§ The persons appointed to carry out the tasks of the Tradition Committee shall meet at least 1–2 times during a semester and, when necessary, at the request of the current Chair of the Board.

Warrantti ry’s Association Ribbon 

4§. Warrantti ry has an association ribbon, which is used similarly to the student union ribbon at academic ceremonial occasions and when representing the association. The ribbon is always worn together with the student union ribbon of the student union of the University of Vaasa, so that the student union ribbon is worn higher, with the exception of Warrantti ry’s own annual ball, where the association ribbon is worn higher. The Board is responsible for providing information on the correct use of the ribbon.

5§. The association ribbon is a 30 mm wide ribbon that is symmetrical in relation to the centre line. The base colour of the ribbon is green, and it has two 5 mm wide white stripes, both located 5 mm from the edge of the ribbon.

6§. Every member of Warrantti ry has the right to redeem an association ribbon for themselves. The right to use the ribbon remains after resignation from the association.

7§. A person who has received Warrantti ry’s gold, silver, or bronze medal, or who has received the ribbon as an independent recognition, has the right to use the distinguished member’s ribbon, which is 45 mm wide. The ribbon is similar to the association ribbon, but its white stripes are 7.5 mm wide and are located 7.5 mm from the edges of the ribbon.

8§. When wearing the ceremonial ribbon, the rest of the attire must be appropriate for the occasion and the status of the ribbon. With a suit or tailcoat, the ribbon is worn so that it runs from the right shoulder across the chest to the left hip. With formal attire (tailcoat), the ribbon is worn under the waistcoat and with a regular suit over the waistcoat and tie. With an evening gown, the ribbon is worn folded as a rosette on the left side of the chest or so that the ribbon runs from the left shoulder across the chest to the left hip. However, the ribbon must not touch bare skin.

Recognitions Granted by Warrantti ry to Its Members 

9§. Warrantti ry has three different medals: gold, silver, and bronze. The medal depicts the Warrantti ry logo surrounded by a laurel wreath. The medal may be awarded to a former or current member of the association as recognition for work carried out for the benefit of the association. However, the medal may not be awarded to a member of the Board during their term of office. 

10§. The medals are awarded by the Chair of the Board. When the medal is awarded, the recipient is also given a certificate stating the grounds for granting the medal. The Board and the Tradition Committee keep records of the recipients of the medals, the dates of granting them, and the reasons for granting them. 

11§. Several medals may be awarded to the same person, but not during the same calendar year. 

12§. The bronze medal may be awarded to a member who has actively participated in Warrantti’s activities and who through their actions has contributed to the success of the association or maintained its good spirit. 

13§. Six bronze medals may be awarded annually, but for justified reasons a maximum of ten medals may be awarded. The Board decides on awarding bronze medals based on a proposal by the Tradition Committee, excluding members of the Tradition Committee, for whom the medals are awarded by the Board. Bronze medals may be awarded twice a year, at the association’s own annual ball and during the week preceding the Student Union’s annual ball. 

14§. The silver medal may be awarded for significant merits in favour of the association. 

15§. Three silver medals may be awarded annually, but for justified reasons a maximum of five medals may be awarded. The Board decides on awarding silver medals based on a proposal by the Tradition Committee, excluding members of the Tradition Committee, for whom the medals are awarded by the Board. The awarding of silver medals of merit takes place at the association’s annual ball. 

16§. The gold medal of merit may be awarded for exceptional merits in favour of the association.

17§. One gold medal may be awarded annually, but for justified reasons a maximum of two medals may be awarded. The General Assembly decides on awarding gold medals based on a joint proposal by the Board and the Tradition Committee. The awarding of gold medals of merit takes place at the association’s annual ball.

18§. In addition to medals, the association may award a distinguished member’s ribbon and pin as independent recognitions. The distinguished member’s ribbon may be awarded to a member who has actively participated in the association’s activities and who through their actions has maintained the association’s good spirit. The pin may be awarded to a member who has actively participated in Warrantti’s activities and has shown motivation to develop Warrantti ry. Seven pins may be awarded annually, but for justified reasons a maximum of ten pins may be awarded. The Board decides on awarding pins based on a proposal by the Tradition Committee.

19§ The Tradition Committee organises an open survey annually before deciding on recognitions, during which the members of the association may propose recipients of recognitions. 

Warrantti’s Board badge

20§ The Board badge is a gold-plated, circular badge with a diameter of 20 mm, resembling the centre of the medal of merit. The Board badge may be used by all persons who have served on the Board. Current Board members wear the Board badge on the association ribbon or possible distinguished member’s ribbon. Former Board members wear the Board badge on the left side of their chest, to the right of possible medals when viewed from the front. 

Recognitions granted by Warrantti ry to external parties 

21§. Warrantti ry may recognise its cooperation partners or private individuals who cannot receive medals intended for former or current members. There are two recognitions: Warrantti ry’s table standard and honorary gift. 

22§. Warrantti ry’s table standard may be awarded to an organisation or private individual with whom the association has engaged in long-term cooperation. The standard may also be awarded to a former or current member of the association, but when recognising them, medals should primarily be used. The decision to award the table standard is made by the Board. Table standards are primarily awarded at the association’s annual ball, but the awarding may also take place, for example, during a visit to the recipient. 

23§. The General Assembly of Warrantti ry may award an honorary gift to an organisation or private individual with whom the association has carried out cooperation that has significantly benefited the association and its members. The honorary gift may also be awarded to a former or current member of the association, but when recognising them, medals should primarily be used. The honorary gift must include a silver association badge and a silver plaque with the recipient’s name and the date of awarding the honorary gift. 

The Chair of the Board’s chain.

24§. The Chair of the Board has a chain, the medal part of which consists of the association’s emblem attached to a silver plaque. The founding year of the association, 1989, is engraved on the edge of the plaque. The chain part consists of name plates engraved with the name of each year’s Chair of the Board and the year. The chain is worn by the Chair of the Board at academic ceremonial occasions.
